Do You Have the Soul of Bikram Yoga Teacher? All of teachers at BYP completed 9 weeks' intensive teacher training with Bikram himself, and are certified to teach Bikram's beginning yoga class that consists of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises.  Spring 2009 training session has just begun, two of our fellow Yogis, Yajaira Velonquz and Monica Kim are at the teacher training in Desert Springs, CA.
If you're interested in becoming Bikram Yoga teacher, please let us know. We will help you to prepare for the teacher training.

BethGMy friend Susie first introduced me to the peacefulness of yoga. But it wasn't until May 2008, when Tina Johnson brought me to Bikram Yoga @ the Palisades, that yoga became an integral part of my life. There's something very special and addicting about practicing Bikram Yoga. Within two months of sweating the toxins out of my body (and gremlins from my psyche) through Bikram classes, I WAS HOOKED! For the past 10 months I have been practicing a minimum of 4-5 days a week.  I have never been this consistent with a workout routine.
 
My friends call me a "Bikram Yoga Junkie," and they are right!  I am SO addicted.
Bikram Yoga is the only place I can quiet my mind.  Bikram Yoga has changed my life tremendously both physically and emotionally.  It has helped with my stress level and PMS, my digestion and immune system have improved dramatically, I am sleeping better, hardly get migraines, and so much more.
Physically, I have lost inches, am more toned and dropped almost 3 dress sizes.
 
I always participate in the studio's one month challenges during which you have to commit to taking 16, 20 or 30 classes over a month period. So far I've successfully completed two 20 day routines.  My goal is to make it through 30 consecutive days.

Every day I look forward to my Bikram Yoga class.  Even though you always do the same 26 postures, every Bikram class is different, challenging you to push further! I intend to keep practicing to continue improving my postures.

Challenge Guidlines
  • Chose your goal and sign up at the front desk when you are starting the Challenge so we can track your class count.
  • During your challenge, your must practice once a day. Double classes will not be counted.
  • It is helpful to identify a Challenge "buddy" to help support you throughout the Challenge period.
  • You will need to have a class card to participate. Unlimited passes such as the monthly, yearly or debit program make the most financial sense.
  • You can start your Challenge on any day in March.

Awkward Pose  Utkatasana
 

Awkward3Awkward Pose is a powerful strengthening posture, and when done with Deep Breathing, Half Moon and Hands to Feet, it also concludes a sort of warm-up section in which you generate internal heat and loosen the muscles.
 
In the first two parts of this posture, your knees will try to move closer to each other.  Remember to keep 6 inches apart. The hands also have a way of floating upward as you sink downward, so keep them in check as well. To do this properly, your arms must be parallel with the floor. Keep them tight, elbows locked, five fingers together. Another key: Keep the stomach sucked in and tight. 
 
Awkwad Pose will tone and shape your legs like nobody's business. And quickly: The definition and strength you gain here are among yoga's fastest results. This posture is such a great warm up in part because it stimulates circulation, sending blood roaring to your lower extremities. If you suffer from chronically cold feet, that will be over. It also helps relieve rheumatism and arthritis in the legs, and helps to cure slipped discs and other problems in the lower spine. Awkwad Pose also promotes laser-beam concetration.

Work/Study positions are available at our studio for our dedicated regular practitioners.
 
 Receive 1 FREE CLASS for every one and half hour that you work. Work a 5 shift and receive 5 FREE CLASSES. That's almost a class a day!
