Our first 2009 One Month Challenge was a huge success!! Seventeen BYP members completed their challenges in January and February. They were rewarded for their determination and will power with a BYP t-shirt, two guest passes, and discounts off on their next purchase. March One Month Challenge 
 
Challenge Guidlines
  • Chose your goal and let Sean or Eune know when you are starting the Challenge so we can track your class count.
  • During your challenge, your must practice once a day. Double classes will not be counted.
  • It is helpful to identify a Challenge "buddy" to help support you throughout the Challenge period.
  • You will need to have a class card to participate. Unlimited passes such as the monthly, yearly or debit program make the most financial sense.
  • You can start your Challenge on any day in March.

February's two hour Posture class was dedicated to the standing series postures. Twenty-one BYP family members attended the class and benefited from having all standing postures from Half Moon to Toe Stand posture corrected and explained in detail.
 
In our next posture class we will go over the entire floor series postures. The March class will take place 1:30 - 3:30 PM on Saturday, March 21st. We recommend all class attendees stay and take the following 4:00 PM class.

Half Moon  Ardha-Chandrasana
 

HalfMonnThe first problem beginners experience in Half Moon's side bends is simultaneously keeping the elbows locked and the chin up. In the backward bending, the problem is fear. The desire and effort may well be there, but the deltoids, scapula and neck have never worked together this way before. At first, keeping all these different parts of your body in alignment is the key.
 
Half Moon Pose strengthens every muscle in the body's core, especially in the abdomen, and flexes and strenghens the latissimus dorsi, oblique, deltoid and trapezius muscles. It increases the flexibility of the spine comprehensively, from coccyx to neck; promotes proper kidney function; and helps to cure enlargement of the liver and spleen. Half Moon also firms and trims the waistline, hips, abdomen, buttocks and thighs.  Give it a couple of weeks and you will probably be able to take that belt in a notch or two.

Work/Study positions are available at our studio for our dedicated regular practitioners.
