Starting in JULY, BYP will have two new teachers who come from our studio.
Monica and Yajaira will be completing 9 weeks Bikram Yoga Teacher training and bring lots of compassion and inspiration to your practice.
In addition, we will have a guest teacher, Georgia Baligian. Georgia was one of Bikram's first students at Hawaii in 1971.  She has been practicing over 38 years and teaching for over 12 years in New York City studios.

Miriam LopezOver the last several years, the various fitness programs I tried in order to combat the arthritis in my lower back, hips and knees (kickboxing, Zumba, spinning classes, Pilates and strength training with several personal trainers) often left me in more pain.  Therefore, I never followed through with any fitness program on a consistent basis.  
 
 At age 53 in April 2008, I decided to try Bikram Yoga at the insistence of my masseuse, Mary Grace Pizarro from Touch of Grace in Montclair.  Nothing has been as effective and rewarding as Bikram Yoga.  After taking over 90 classes in the past year, my arthritis pain is minimal and my flexibility and stamina has improved.  Bikram Yoga has helped my digestive system, my sleeping pattern and my immune system.  Although I haven't lost any weight, I'm more toned and I have dropped a full dress size.  When I started practicing Bikram, I needed the instructor to help me with a towel in order to do the "bow" position, but within the first 10 classes I had already gained the flexibility to no longer need assistance; I still have a long way to go in order to do the 26 positions correctly, but I can tell that I'm improving with every class I take.  Thank you Eune & Sean!  You're the best!

Georgia was one of Bikram's first students when he arrived to Honolulu to teach  in 1971.

 She received her official certification to teach in 1997, and has been teaching at  New York City studios ever since.
The greatest joy in her life is "seeing her student's happy smiling faces.
Her deepest gratitude is to Bikram for never giving up on her.
In July, Georgia will come and teach one of the weekend classes as a guest teacher. It will be a great chance for all of us to learn from the experienced Bikramyoga teacher in the area.

You might not be able to wrap your arms properly at first, but that's okay. This is a strange and difficult position and, especially if you're a man, with bigger shoulders, forearms and biceps, the full braiding will be difficult. In any case, your work is the same: Pulling down continuously with the arms will develop the flexibility you need in the shoulders and slowly strech out all those tight places in your neck and shoulders, where so many of us hold our tension.

Eagle is the only posture that opens up the 14 largest joints in the skeletal system (seven on each side of the body) in such a short time - just 10 seconds! Beyond improving flexibility in the hips, knees, ankles and the rest, Eagle also supplies fresh blood to the reproductive system and sex organs, plus the kidneys, which increases sexual vitality and helps clear up reproductive problems. It tones the calves, thighs and hips, while in the upper body it strengthens the latissimus dorsi, trapezius, and deltoid muscles.

Work/Study positions are available at our studio for our dedicated regular practitioners.
 
 Receive 1 FREE CLASS for every one and half hour that you work. Work a 5 shift and receive 5 FREE CLASSES. That's almost a class a day!
